看科學插畫展

2012.3.24去看格雷琴‧凱‧哈伯特(Gretchen Kai Halpert) 「追求真實的筆尖」的科學插畫展，雖 Gretchen說：「美觀是很重要，然而精確才是至高無上的準則。」(Asethetics are important, but accuracy is paramount)，而大自然在她筆下，讓人感到十分可親。(註) 她是有感情的繪者。

對三葉天南星Jack-in-the –Pulpit (Arisaema sp.)這幅畫，她說道：
I may be partial to spring woodland plants, as it is exciting to see blooms merging from woods dampened from retreating snow. The flowers of this plant, native to the northeastern US, are unisexual and pollinated by flies. I airbrushed and painted the background with acrylics, masking out the plant, then completed the drawing with colored pencil. Much artwork is an experiment with materials and techniques.

(我可能對春天的林地植物比較偏心，因為看到百花從被融雪浸濕的林木上萌芽綻放，是件很振奮人心的事。這株植物來自美國的東北部，花雌雄同體，由蒼蠅授粉。我使用壓克力顏料噴槍噴刷背景，勾勒出這株植物的輪廓，再以色鉛筆完成這幅畫。其實大部分的藝術品都也是材料與技巧的實驗成果。)
